Return to the Forbidden Planet

Imagine that you, the audience, are passengers on a star ship that blasts off (to the rock beat of “Wipeout”) on a routine science flight, but is suddenly bombarded by a meteor shower and forced to crash into the forbidden planet. You have just entered a sci-fi version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest set to classic rock and roll music. Dr. Prospero is now a sinister scientist; his daughter is still delightful, but faithful Ariel is now a a silver robot on roller skates. Add to the mix an uncontrollable, tentacaled monster that is a product of Prospero’s Id. In other words, ...Take one plot (Shakespeare’s The Tempest), add the major elements of a 1950’s sci-fi flick (Forbidden Planet) and for added flavor, plunder the entire Shakespearean cannon for dialogue - and then camp it up with the best Rock and Roll music ever. Return to the Forbidden Planet - It’s an outbreak of pure fun and joy - totally irresistible. Producers are Progressive Bank and Loose Change Productions.
