Louisiana has become one of the top destinations in the world for motion picture production as filmmakers discover the benefits of well-trained and experienced Louisiana-based crews, world-class production facilities and the highly appealing Motion Picture Production Incentive Program.
Over the past 20 years, Louisiana’s infrastructure has matured and is able to meet the needs of any size production. The state boasts diverse filming locations from swamps to big cities, from rural mid-America to any-town USA. In addition, there are multiple state-of-the-art soundstages and post-production facilities across the entire state.
In the past decade alone, Louisiana has hosted the production of more than 700 motion pictures, television series and documentaries, including Interview with the Vampire, National Treasure, The Iron Claw, and Where the Crawdads Sing.
The state’s skilled crew base has grown by more than 400 percent since 2002 and includes a talented base of actors, extras and day players. From key department positions to a large selection of diverse extras, Louisiana has the local workforce to maximize the benefits of any production filming in the state.

The Motion Picture Production Incentive Program provides state-certified motion picture productions with up to a 40 percent tax credit on eligible in-state expenditures. This includes resident and non-resident labor. Program is subject to an issuance cap of $150 million per fiscal year and a claims cap of $180 million per fiscal year.
