Based in the late 1950’s, Troy Maxson realizes he’s spent his entire life in a world where being proud and black didn’t exist. However, as the new spirit of liberation in the 1960’s roll around Troy finds himself a stranger, angry and very afraid, in a world he never knew. Frustrated with his own existence, he lashes out at a wife and son he understands less and less as they benefit from opportunities he will never have.
